After last year, everyone is looking forward to this summer— especially family togethers and cookouts! No matter who you are with, what your summer or 4th of July traditions are or how you celebrate, there are many ways to enjoy the summer. Here are some easy ways to make this year memorable:

Go for lots of color. One of the simplest yet most effective ways to celebrate the 4th of July is with red, white and blue. If you are celebrating summer bright, fun or neon colors. From table cloths, napkins, paper plates and even ice cubes, you want to have all the colors of the day come shining through. You can make your deserts and foods with these colors as well.

Choose a theme! Although may people have patriotic-themed parties in July, it doesn’t mean you can’t choose a luau/Hawaiian theme. Start a new family tradition by celebrating Christmas in July. Decorate with twinkling lights, tinsel, snowmen, and your favorite winter holiday décor.

Dress up! A great way to celebrate the true history of the day is to throw a July costume party. Everyone has to dress as Uncle Sam, the Founding Fathers, or Lady Liberty. Depending on if you have established a theme, you may decide to dress for the beach or as an elf.

Make a splash! Since July is almost always one of the hottest months, make your summer picnic cooler with a bit of swimming and water fun. Hook up the sprinklers and cool off your feet in a wading pool. Use a fan mister or bring squirt guns for youthful fun.

Look for more ways to share and celebrate the day with family and friends. Never forget that music, good food—themed or cookout favorites— and lots of laughs with friends is the best way to spend the day.
