Video Games: Relaxing and Fun!

Everyone knows that playing video games can be a lot of fun. However, have you ever considered it as a way to relieve stress? If not, you may want to invest in a gaming console along with a variety of games and start playing! Research has shown that playing video games for at least 15 to 30 minutes a day can indeed provide people with a great way to relax and unwind mentally and physically.

Researchers have also discovered that video games can improve your hand-eye coordination, meaning faster reflexes, even during routine activities. If you prefer playing strategy games, then you may discover a boost in critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Online games tend to improve cooperation and communication.

The Wii or the more recent Nintendo Switch offers a variety of interactive visual/motion coordination games. This ingenious gaming platform allows multi-players to enjoy all of the motions of various sports (bowling, golf, baseball) or activities (darts, ping-pong, frisbee), which has lead to the rise of the silver gamer! The silver gamer, meaning an individual 55 or older who is using a computer, tablet, headset, or smart phone and enjoying the stimulation of virtual and online video games!

On September 12, National Video Game Day, get out your joysticks, controllers, consoles, favorite games, and gather with your family or friends safely in-person or in an online party and have fun, laugh, relax and play some video games!
